Bolton News Review
They say you should never work with children or animals but if this production of the classic musical Oliver is anything to go by oh yes you should.
The cast of more than 70, including lots of youngsters, pulled off a superb show, with bull terrier, Alfie, even making a short appearance on stage as Bullseye (much to the delight of the 280-strong audience).
The favourite tale of the orphan’s adventures was expertly done, with a fantastic cast and wonderful sets, complimented by an amazing orchestra.
St Paul’s Players gathered their biggest cast ever to put on the performance and I left very impressed. Everything you would expect from a production of Oliver and more.
I loved all the songs, many with strong dance routines, and will be singing/humming them (or attempting to) for days!
Bradley Lewis did a fantastic job in the lead role and Jane Catterall was excellent as Nancy.
Tony Henry was perfect as the cheeky rogue, Fagin and Chris Martin was terrifying as Bill Sykes, as he should be! I can’t not mention Ben Whipp too – a great Artful Dodger.
A massive well done to everyone involved, particularly the children who took to the stage – a must see.
